Beware!! Internet Marketing Deceptions to Watch Out For!!!!
Author: Michael B Amos
It has been nearly one year since I have started the venture of a Home Based Business Opportunity. In that time, one learns, and also wants to help others who may need advice. In any new business one grows with experience on what and how to succeed, and what to avoid.
Unfortunately at times a negative experience crosses our path, and from that we go on. In the following, I am not saying that all companies are like the one that I speak about, but one should be careful, possibly regardless of a testimony list of satisfied clients on the front of their web site.
On any persons who are Marketing on the Internet. Those who are experienced are most likely aware of what or who to watch out for on using any of the following:
1- Direct Traffic Hits to a Website
2- Guaranteed Opt In Sign Ups
3- Guaranteed “Paid Sign Up”
Being relatively new to Home Based Internet Marketing , once you are involved, a person must make decisions on who or where to go to start any campaign to drive traffic to his/her website.
You are excited and need to see results in area’s that are positive, even if no sales.
There are lots of sites that promise the most for your dollar, yet how do they show results? In my first subscription to a “Safe List” type email ad placement, in a matter hours I started receiving massive email ads from everyone who has something to sell or represent on the Internet. This is good, for the safe list emails are all from other Internet Market Business types that want to share info on their company.
Hundreds of emails come weekly, all about website building, driving traffic to your home business website, software, and everything else you could imagine to help with a web based internet business.
Having my own website made me realize how important exposure is, without traffic, you will get no results, end of story. So you’re Home Based Opportunity will be short lived to say the least.
Ad placement for anyone who is versed in Internet Marketing is Key to seeing success, especially if you’re running a Home Based Business, and on a budget. I was on a budget, so found that placement of selected “Solo Ads” would be a good way to see people directed to my website.
The Solo Ads had good response, yet after seeing about the same amount of traffic visits to my site decided to go to a paid campaign to direct traffic to my website. In essence, I was trying to see if a company could direct traffic to my web site www.incomeunlimited4you.com and that the percentage of sign ups would increase in which more sales.
I looked for a company that possibly could get the results with still a budget in mind. Time went by, in fact months, and a web based internet company came in thru a email sent thru a safe list. My web site counter was at 4,200 hits, which in 4 months was not many, yet I was not an experienced Marketer, so I decided to go with this company to help direct traffic visits to my site. I received an email from a company, the dollar amount was reasonable, and they guaranteed 50,000 visits within 30 days. I went with this offer, so I sent money, and provided my website URL.
It was incredible, within 24 hours; my site counter went from 4200 to 28,000 WOW!! I was amazed, in fact after 4 days, my site counter went to near 40,000 hits. I was so excited to see the exposure; from this one would see lots of sign ups, and then sales? Sure the numbers were great to say the least, yet out of all the hits, only 8 opt in signups?
I was excited at first about the hits, yet after hitting 28,000 visits, all the sign ups were from India, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, and other Middle East Countries. I advertise all over the world, yet out of thousands of visits from this company, one would expect people from all over the world verses just the Middle East?
There was speculation on how could one get 40,000 visits to a site and no more than a few signups? I proceeded inquire, and here is what some of the answers were to my questions. I do want you all to realize that these answers are possibly speculation, yet very possible the truth on what may take place.
1-How does a company that specializes in guaranteeing hits to a website?
A-Companies that specialize in driving traffic visits will pay people to stay at a PC and continually just click on the site for hours, this shows that the visits are for occurring. Some Internet Traffic type companies will have dozens of PC’s in the building continually clicking on web sites. Thus, in an 8 hour day, thousands of visits could occur to a Particular web site. The company that I paid stated that I could go to a website, put in a code or number, and it would list the IP addresses to verify the legitimacy to verify.
The person who was helping me with the answers on this issue stated the follow about the IP address issue. He explained that is not difficult to have a dial up phone connection to the Internet that once it is disconnected, and reconnected, that a different IP is assigned. This Company is in Middle East and could well afford to pay any wage, possibly $1.00 a day which could be great income for a person who is in need to just continually click on a web site.
B- Secondly another response from my source is that some companies after receiving payment will again pay other companies a set amount to do the same thing as in line A. In a further answer, I was instructed that these same companies will have their employee sign up with false names randomly to show that there is possibly some of the visits to be positive or productive in a possible lead for a sale.
I investigated the company whom I had paid to perform the service, and found that they were based out of Pakistan. I fully understood now why the few signups were using false information. There is hundreds of companies that are out there that may be legitimate, yet there are those who will prey on the innocent. It cost me to learn about being careful on companies such as these types even some that may be based here in the States, UK, or anywhere in the World.
Now, on the same note, there are those companies who guarantee “Paid Signups”, or just sign ups and will also be scam types who use the same type of system to take your money. You should be careful on any internet company who guarantee’s anything.
This article may be helpful to those who are new in a home based business opportunity, or working thru a business that is on a bigger scale. I learned that one should be careful. On anyone who wants to see success in their business, seek advice from possibly a more experienced Marketer before committing to any type of new advertising, or traffic driving campaign.
Thank you for your time, and hope this personal experience helps you in any Internet Marketing venture that you may pursue.
